Red Glazed Terracotta Tiled Roof With Lichen Growth

Moss Roof Treatment On Glazed Terracotta Tiles

Glazed Terracotta tiles are one of the trickiest tiles to work on, due to being very slippery when wet. Trying to pressure clean them is dangerous and not worth the risk. By using Moss Roof Treatment we avoid walking on the roof as the product is applied by tradesmen from ladders which is safer and avoids accidently breaking tiles. The product will not affect the glaze on the tiles and just kill the lichen and spores. Here is a great example of a glazed tile roof we have moss treated.

Moss Growing Between Tiles!

Tiled Roofs

Moss growing in between tiles and in the water courses can cause leaks in your roof. It is best to get this sorted quickly before damage is done the plaster. The water courses are designed to help water flow down the roof, moss blocking these can casue moisture build up and issues with leaks. Using Moss Roof Treatment we are able to kill the moss and spores and stop it from growing and getting worse. Once dead, the moss will begin to break down and wash away. This is a gentle application that has long lasting results, conventional cleaning methods can work ok but to clean water courses using high pressure water is risky and can cause water to get into the roof cavity. With certain tiles it is difficult to pressure clean, because of brittleness, style of tiles and age of tile. So, it is best to use a treatment product to avoid breaking tiles and walking on the roof which can also disturb tiles. Moss Roof Treatment is an effective way to kill and prevent moss growth. Terracotta Before And After

Results Of Moss Roof Treatment

The Terracotta tiled roof was treated in October 2019 and the latest Ariel image shows some fantastic results! A difficult roof surface that wasn't suited to other cleaning methods, the gentle application of moss roof treatment not only kills the surface moss but also the spores to prevent future growth. Ideal for all terracotta roof tile types and colours, the product will kill the moss within 3 weeks, then it further breaks down & washes away overtime with the assistance of the wind and rain. We generally allow 12-18 months for this process (weather dependent).

Have A Steep/difficult Access Roof?

No Problem For MRT!

Steep and difficult access roofs can be a struggle to maintain. Pressure cleaning is not ideal for these types of roofs and can sometimes cause issues with water getting into the roof cavity. By using Moss Roof Treatment, we are able to reach the tough areas, being able to spray the product roughly 10m up the roof, making these steep/difficult roofs much more simpler. The moss will be killed by the product and then begin to break down and wash away. A big benefit to the steep roof is that once the moss is dead and rainfall starts the occur the steepness and gravity can help clean the roof quicker.
